Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement
CT Folk is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, accessible, and inclusive community for all board members, staff, volunteers, performers, vendors, and attendees.
We believe music, arts, and culture should be welcoming and accessible to everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, socioeconomic status, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or ability. We are dedicated to creating safe and inclusive spaces free from discrimination and harassment, and to providing accessible facilities, services, and free and donation-based programming whenever possible.
CT Folk acknowledges the ancestral homelands of the Paugussett, Quinnipiac, and Wappinger peoples. We also acknowledge the layered history of New Haven, established in 1638 by English Puritan settlers, and recognize the historical significance of Edgerton Park, developed by Eli Whitney between 1795–1798 and donated to the City of New Haven in 1965 by Frederick Brewster.
We honor the many communities and ancestors — past, present, and future — whose contributions continue to shape our shared cultural landscape, and we will continue to strengthen our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging throughout our organization.
